5 Comparison Photos That Will Make You Think About Time and the World We Live In

No matter how long, the passage of time is inevitable and can leave a lasting impression on people, places, and even inanimate things. This collection of images shows the same people, places, or things side by side after the passage of time, and a lot of it is pretty incredible when you can see what’s changed (and what hasn’t). In a way, it gives us a new perspective on the concept of time.

#1: Dorm Room Blues

Ah, college. What an amazing time, full of fun, work, and great strides toward becoming the adult you want to be. Freshman year is supposed to be a good time, right? Parties in the dorm, friends, new experiences. Set your expectations sky-high; you won’t be disappointed, right? Well, let’s see…

It doesn’t quite look like fun was had for the whole first year, but it does make for quite the side-by-side comparison! College is never easy, especially your freshman year when you don’t know anyone, you want to succeed in school, and you also want to make friends. This student seems to have learned that the hard way. But hey, at least your photos are funny, right?

#2: Fashion Isn’t Equal

While I don’t carry my Nintendo Switch Lite around in my pocket, some people might have that ambition in mind. Sure, why not? You do you! However, if you wear women’s pants, don’t expect much to fit in them, including this gaming system. You may already be aware, but women’s fashion isn’t built with deep pockets in mind.

I guess wearing men’s jeans is the way to go if you want to carry some stuff around in your pocket. A Nintendo Switch Lite, a wallet, a cell phone, a water bottle, a bunch of snacks, a book, whatever comes to mind. Ladies? You can probably fit a thing of Chapstick, I guess.

#3: Nothing Changes for Her

While some people are all about change, that’s not the case for this lady. 71 years have passed and it looks like she’s still living in the same place, with the same motorbike, the same love of fashion. Can you believe it? Now if only dogs could live 70-plus years, that would be amazing.

Despite a few more wrinkles and the addition of color to the second photo, you can’t deny that this is the same woman in both photos! Time may change our bodies and faces, but it can’t change our excitement for the things we love. And I guess this woman loves motorbikes! She looks like an adventurous soul.

#4: Here, Kitty Kitty

Adopting a pet is an amazing experience, whether it be a dog or a cat. However, sometimes you don’t know how big an animal will get until it’s finished growing. This little kitty isn’t even finished growing, as these photos are of the cat at age 3 months and age 6 months. Well, see for yourself…

This kitty isn’t quitting yet, but I guess that just means there’s more to love. A lot more to love! Adopting is always worth the risks, but maybe try to figure out an animal’s breed before you bring it home (especially if it’s going to be a dog-sized cat). A Maine Coon is known as a potentially-huge cat breed.

#5: Human Interference

I’m the first to say that people are the worst. This image only further shows that, as it directly compares bamboo grown during years of tourist activity and a single stalk of bamboo grown when people weren’t traveling. The difference is wild and a bit disappointing when you think about how beautiful our nature could be if we stepped aside and didn’t interfere.

See what I mean? If people didn’t feel the need to destroy things, look at how beautiful nature could be. It’s a shame, but I guess there’s a lesson to be learned here: you can still enjoy traveling to new and wonderful places without destroying the local nature! Doesn’t seem too hard to do, right
